Assistant District Attorney


    Born and raised in Cullman.  Graduate of Cullman High School; Samford University (BA in Economics); and University of Alabama School of Law (JD).  Member of Alabama Law Review and Farrah law Society.  Served as Law Clerk to Honorable L. Charles Wright, Presiding Judge of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, then returned to Cullman to begin general private practice of law in August, 1982.

Member: Alabama State Bar Association, Alabama DA Association, Cullman Bar Association (past president); Children's Policy Council.  Received in excess of 100 hours training in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including general civil, domestic and appellate mediation, and arbitration.  General private law practice for 23 years prior to joining the Cullman County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor in January, 2005.

Primary responsibilities: Felony prosecution of sexual offenses and severe physical abuse against children.  Enforcement of child support in Circuit Court domestic cases; Defense of Post Conviction Petitions for Relief.  In addition: Misdemeanor trials and District Court enforcement of child support.

Married to Bill McCartney, one daughter and two step-children.  Active member of Grace Episcopal Church.  Served on the Daystar House Board of Directors as a member, secretary and several years as President.
